Customer Pain Points and Solutions

Trans-Pacific air freight from China to North America delivers 3 to 5 day door-to-door transit, but the challenges are real: blocked space availability during peak season, battery and DG cargo carrier acceptance, and ISF 10+2 filing compliance for US-bound cargo.

Pain Point: Space Availability

Trans-Pacific air cargo capacity tightens during Q4 peak season (September to December). General cargo spot rates spike 40 to 60%, and bookings without blocked space agreements are frequently waitlisted or rolled to the next available flight.

Solution: Blocked Space Agreements

Meicheng holds blocked space agreements with multiple carriers on PVG-LAX, HKG-ORD, and CAN-JFK routes. Bookings are secured against the allotment, not waitlisted, even during peak season. Minimum chargeable weight is 45 kg.

Pain Point: Battery Cargo Rejection

Lithium battery shipments (UN3480, UN3481, UN3090, UN3091) are frequently rejected at airline acceptance counters if pre-approval is not obtained before cargo tender. Rejection delays shipment by 2 to 4 days.

Solution: Pre-Approval Process

Meicheng obtains carrier pre-approval before cargo arrives at the origin terminal. DGD, UN38.3 test summary, and MSDS are prepared and reviewed before tender, ensuring the airline accepts the cargo on the first attempt.

Buyer FAQ

What is the minimum shipment size for air freight to North America?: Minimum chargeable weight is 45 kg. Below this, a 45 kg minimum charge applies. There is no upper limit; full charter can be arranged for large volumes exceeding 2 to 3 tons on a single tender.
How accurate is the 3-5 day transit time?: 3 to 5 days door-to-door is the working range. Airport-to-airport is 2 to 3 days; the remaining days cover origin export processing, airline acceptance, destination customs clearance, and final delivery trucking.
What packaging is required for air freight?: Standard air freight packaging is required. For DG cargo, IATA-compliant packaging with Class 9 labels, lithium battery handling marks, and UN numbers is mandatory. Pallets should be lightweight and fit aircraft ULD dimensions.
What payment terms are available?: 30% advance by T/T with 70% balance against copy of AWB. For regular air freight clients, weekly settlement is available subject to credit review. Charter deposits may be required depending on the charter terms.
Can you provide pre-shipment inspection or samples?: DG documentation review and carrier pre-approval confirmation are included. Cargo weight and dimension verification is performed before tender. AWB copies and tracking numbers are provided before departure.
Can we use our own logo or branding on air freight documents?: Yes. AWB can be issued as house AWB under the shipper's or consignee's nominated party. Master AWB and house AWB arrangements are available for confidential trade scenarios.
Do you offer OEM air freight arrangements?: For OEM shipments, Meicheng provides neutral air freight forwarder service with blind shipping. Factory identity is not disclosed on AWB or customs documents, and cargo can be delivered directly to the end buyer.
