Customer Pain Points and Solutions

Chartered air cargo for dangerous goods solves the most difficult air freight challenge: moving hazardous materials that commercial scheduled airlines refuse to accept. Lithium batteries, chemicals, and hazardous materials require full IATA DGR compliance, carrier pre-approval, and specialized packing.

Pain Point: Carrier Rejection

Commercial airlines reject approximately 30% of DG cargo at acceptance counters due to incomplete documentation or missing pre-approval. Rejection delays shipment by 2 to 4 days and requires cargo return to the origin warehouse.

Solution: Pre-Approval Process

Meicheng obtains carrier pre-approval before cargo arrives at the origin terminal. DGD, UN38.3 test summary, and MSDS are prepared and reviewed before tender, ensuring the airline accepts the cargo on the first attempt.

Pain Point: DG Packing Compliance

DG cargo requires IATA-compliant packaging with correct labeling, marking, and documentation. Incorrect packing can result in cargo being offloaded mid-transit or seized by customs at destination.

Solution: IATA-Certified Packing Team

Meicheng operates an IATA-certified DG packing team at the origin warehouse. Packaging, labeling (Class 9 label, lithium battery handling mark, UN number), and documentation are prepared to IATA DGR standards before tender.

Buyer FAQ

What is the minimum shipment size for DG chartered air cargo?: Minimum chargeable weight for DG charter is 500 kg. Below this, scheduled DG service may be more economical. Full charter is available for cargo exceeding 5 tons on a single tender.
How long does DG chartered air cargo take?: 2 to 4 days airport-to-airport for chartered flights. Door-to-door including origin DG packing, carrier pre-approval, destination customs clearance, and delivery adds 1 to 2 days.
What packaging is required for DG air cargo?: IATA DGR-compliant packaging is mandatory. This includes UN-specification packaging, Class 9 hazard labels, lithium battery handling marks, UN numbers, and overpack labeling when applicable. Meicheng's IATA-certified team handles packing at the origin warehouse.
What payment terms are available?: 30% advance by T/T with 70% balance against copy of AWB. For DG charter, a carrier deposit may be required depending on the charter terms. L/C at sight is accepted for large volume contracts.
Can you provide pre-shipment inspection or documentation samples?: DG documentation review with DGD, UN38.3 test summary, and MSDS verification is included before tender. Packaging and labeling inspection photos are provided. Carrier pre-approval confirmation is documented before cargo arrives at the terminal.
Can we use our own logo or branding on DG documentation?: Yes. DG documentation and AWB can be issued under the shipper's or consignee's nominated party. House AWB and neutral documentation are available, but DGD must show the actual shipper name as required by IATA regulations.
Do you offer OEM or ODM DG shipping arrangements?: For OEM shipments containing DG cargo, Meicheng provides neutral forwarder service with blind shipping where permitted. However, IATA DGR regulations require the actual shipper name on the DGD. Factory identity on commercial and transport documents can be handled confidentially.
