Product Detail

Buyer Pain Points Addressed

Hotel project buyers and residential importers sourcing a complete bedroom suite need a configuration that includes both a bed and case goods (wardrobe, dresser, nightstands) in a single coordinated batch. Buying these pieces separately risks grain and colour mismatch between suppliers. This six-piece wardrobe suite solves that by sourcing every component from the same Siamese rosewood timber batch, conditioned and finished as a single production lot.

The suite is designed for master bedrooms of 18 to 30 square metres. It includes a panel bed, two nightstands, a two-door wardrobe, a dresser, and a matching mirror. The wardrobe uses a floating-panel door construction that allows solid wood to expand and contract with seasonal humidity without splitting the frame. All drawer boxes use hand-cut dovetails.

Six-Piece Configuration

  • 1 panel bed frame (king 180 cm x 200 cm or queen 150 cm x 200 cm, selectable at order)
  • 2 matching nightstands (55 cm x 42 cm x 58 cm each)
  • 1 two-door wardrobe (120 cm x 60 cm x 210 cm)
  • 1 dresser (140 cm x 50 cm x 85 cm)
  • 1 matching mirror (90 cm x 70 cm)

Buyers who need a larger wardrobe can substitute a three-door 180 cm version at a adjusted price. Mention the wardrobe size preference at inquiry.

Floating-Panel Wardrobe Construction

The wardrobe doors use a floating-panel technique: the door frame is assembled first with grooved stiles and rails, then a solid wood panel is inserted into the groove without glue. This allows the panel to expand and contract with seasonal humidity changes without splitting the frame, which is critical for shipments to heated North American winters or air-conditioned European summers. The wardrobe interior is fitted with a hanging rod at 175 cm height and a removable shelf at 110 cm height. The rod bracket is mortised into the side panel, not surface-mounted.

Dovetail Drawer Construction

All drawer boxes in the dresser and nightstands use hand-cut through-dovetail joints at the front corner and half-blind dovetails at the rear. The dovetail pins are cut at a 1:6 ratio, which is the traditional Chinese furniture standard for hardwood drawers. Drawer bottoms are set in grooved sides and slide on wooden runners, not metal slides. This construction method allows the drawer to be repaired without disassembling the case.

Manufacturing Process

This suite follows a five-stage production sequence:

  • Stage 1 - Batch Timber Allocation: A single Siamese rosewood timber batch is allocated to each six-piece suite to ensure colour and grain consistency. The batch is kiln-dried to 8 to 12 percent moisture content with a 48-hour equalization period.
  • Stage 2 - Component Cutting and Grain Matching: Bed frame posts, wardrobe stiles, and dresser rails are cut from boards with the straightest grain. Panel stock for wardrobe doors and dresser sides is selected for figure consistency.
  • Stage 3 - Joinery Cutting: Bed frame post-to-rail connections use 20 mm tenon-depth mortise-and-tenon joints. Wardrobe door frames use 16 mm tenons. Dresser rail-to-leg connections use 18 mm tenons. Drawer dovetails are cut by hand.
  • Stage 4 - Assembly and Floating-Panel Installation: Case goods are assembled with floating panels set into grooved frames. Bed frames are dry-fitted before glue application. Dovetail drawer boxes are assembled and fitted to their runners.
  • Stage 5 - Lacquer Finishing: Seven coats of raw lacquer are applied by hand, each cured for 24 hours and hand-rubbed with pumice stone. The final coat achieves a satin sheen that shows the rosewood grain beneath.

Quality Inspection

  • Panel Movement Test: Floating panels are tested by measuring the gap at the groove edge before and after a 48-hour humidity chamber cycle. Panels binding in the groove are re-fitted.
  • Bed Frame Load Test: The assembled bed frame is loaded with 150 kg of distributed weight for 24 hours. Any joint showing separation is re-fitted.
  • Dovetail Fit Check: Each drawer is cycled 50 times on its runner. Any drawer binding or loosening is re-fitted.
  • Moisture Audit: Three-point readings per piece. Readings outside 8 to 12 percent require re-conditioning.
  • Finish Inspection: Surface inspected under 5000K LED lighting at 30 cm distance. Defects are reworked before packing.

Enterprise Capability

云霄 has produced classical redwood furniture in Xianyou since 2008. The workshop maintains FSC chain-of-custody documentation and CITES export permit registration for Dalbergia cochinchinensis shipments. Production capacity and client references are available upon request. OEM custom dimensions and ODM design development are supported with a 15-day design approval cycle.

Trade Fair Experience

云霄 engages with international buyers through Canton Fair and Shanghai International Furniture Fair channels. Specific booth numbers and dates are available on request. Buyers visiting Xianyou can arrange a workshop tour to inspect timber stock, joinery stations, and the lacquer curing room.

Packaging and Export Documentation

The bed frame ships flat-packed in one crate. The wardrobe ships flat-packed (stiles, rails, panels, and shelf separated) in a second crate. The dresser, mirror, and two nightstands ship in a third crate. All packaging uses ISPM-15 heat-treated timber with EPS foam corner blocks. Total gross weight is approximately 220 kg. Every shipment includes CITES export permits, FSC certificate, commercial invoice with HS code 9403.60, and a wood drying certificate.

Wardrobe assembly note
The wardrobe ships flat-packed and requires assembly on site. Assembly requires two adults and approximately 90 minutes using the supplied wooden dowels, panel inserts, and instruction sheet. The floating-panel doors must be installed after the wardrobe frame is fully assembled to maintain panel alignment.
