Buyer Pain Points This Set Resolves

Importers sourcing bedroom furniture for compact residential installations often find that full five-piece suites are too large for standard European and North American bedroom dimensions. Buyers also report difficulty sourcing canopy beds with single-section corner posts (not finger-jointed) at a three-piece price point. This set addresses both concerns: it is a focused three-piece configuration (canopy bed plus two nightstands) that fits rooms from 12 square metres upward, and the bed posts are cut from single solid timber sections.

Three-Piece Configuration

  • 1 canopy bed frame (king 180 cm x 200 cm or queen 150 cm x 200 cm, selectable at order)
  • 2 matching nightstands (50 cm x 40 cm x 55 cm each)

Buyers who need a wardrobe and dresser can add those pieces separately from our catalogue. The three-piece set is designed as a starting configuration for projects where room dimensions or budget do not accommodate a full five-piece suite.

Canopy Bed Construction

The four corner posts are cut from single solid Siamese rosewood timber sections, not finger-jointed or veneered. This preserves the load path from the canopy rail to the floor without a glued joint in between. Posts are connected to the side rails using mortise-and-tenon joints secured with wooden dowels. The canopy frame sits atop the posts, connected by through-tenons that pass completely through the post top and are wedged from above. This is a traditional Chinese bed construction method that locks the canopy frame to the posts without metal hardware.

The slat base sits recessed into the side rails and supports a standard innerspring or latex mattress without a box spring. Cross-slats are spaced at approximately 90 mm centres to limit mattress sag over years of use.

Manufacturing Process

  • Stage 1 - Post Selection: Corner posts are cut from the straightest, clearest timber sections in the batch. Any post with a bend exceeding 2 mm over its length is diverted to shorter components.
  • Stage 2 - Kiln Conditioning: Timber is kiln-dried to 8 to 12 percent moisture content with a 48-hour equalization period. Moisture is verified per board before joinery.
  • Stage 3 - Joinery Cutting: Mortise-and-tenon joints are cut to 20 mm tenon depth on post-to-rail connections. Through-tenons for the canopy frame are cut to pass 15 mm through the post top, with a wedge slot for locking.
  • Stage 4 - Assembly: The bed frame is dry-fitted before glue application to verify alignment. Nightstands are assembled with dovetail drawer boxes and floating-panel sides.
  • Stage 5 - Lacquer Finishing: Seven coats of raw lacquer are applied by hand, each cured for 24 hours and hand-rubbed with pumice stone.

Quality Inspection

  • Post Straightness: Each post is checked with a straightedge. Bends exceeding 1.5 mm trigger re-selection.
  • Joint Integrity: The assembled bed frame is loaded with 150 kg distributed weight for 24 hours. Any joint showing separation is re-fitted.
  • Canopy Frame Stability: The canopy frame is tested by applying 10 kg of lateral force at each corner. Movement exceeding 3 mm requires wedge re-fitting.
  • Moisture Audit: Three-point readings per piece. Readings outside 8 to 12 percent require re-conditioning.
  • Finish Inspection: Surface inspected under 5000K LED lighting. Defects reworked before packing.

Enterprise Capability

云霄 has produced classical redwood furniture in Xianyou since 2008. The workshop maintains FSC chain-of-custody documentation and CITES export permit registration. Production capacity and client references are available upon request. OEM custom dimensions and ODM design development are supported with a 15-day design approval cycle.

Trade Show Experience

云霄 engages with international buyers through Canton Fair and Shanghai International Furniture Fair channels. Specific booth information is available on request. Workshop tours in Xianyou can be arranged for buyers inspecting timber stock and production stages.

Packaging and Documentation

The bed frame ships flat-packed (posts, rails, canopy frame, and slat base separated) in one crate. Nightstands ship fully assembled in a second crate. All packaging uses ISPM-15 heat-treated timber with EPS foam corner blocks. Every shipment includes CITES export permits, FSC certificate, commercial invoice with HS code 9403.60, and a wood drying certificate.

Buyer measurement reminder
Measure room ceiling height before ordering: the canopy stands approximately 210 cm tall. Also measure doorway widths and any stairwell turns on the delivery route, since the posts ship as single sections and cannot be broken down for tight stairwells.
